Princess Cruises Partnership with Stephen Schwartz at NYC Media Event

New York, New York (March 12th, 2015) – On Thursday evening, Princess Cruises announced its partnership with Oscar winner and famed composer of Wicked, Pippin and Godspell Stephen Schwartz at New York City’s Hudson Theatre.


“Stephen is hands down the most talented and accomplished Broadway composers of all time and we couldn’t be more honored to partner with him to ideate and bring fresh talent to create


 memorable entertainment experiences for our guest,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises President.  “Princess is known for introducing product innovations, and we are thrilled to embark on this extraordinary new live-show entertainment, unlike anything any cruise line has ever before offered." Schwartz will create and oversee the creative development of four musical shows which will debut across the cruise line over the next several years.

Synergy partnered with Princess Cruises to showcase Schwartz’s most iconic and infamous work, while assisting with key design aspects for the media event.


Schwartz played some of his biggest hits on the piano including “Day by Day” from Godspell and 



“Corner of the Sky” from Pippin. Accompanying Schwartz were, Tony Award winners, Ben Vereen and Debbie Gravitte and cabaret singer, Scott Coulter who sang along.

The first musical show, Magic to Do, will debut aboard Crown Princess in the fall, and audiences 

will be exclusively entertained 

by some of Schwartz’s most famous songs that will highlight the fascination of magic and illusion.


In addition, Jim Steinmeyer, mastermind behind great magic illusions and who has worked with the world’s most magicians, including Doug Henning, David Copperfield and Siegfried and Roy, will create the magic experience in Magic to Do.
